To The Oceans of The World

We at Sven Radio would like to dedicate all of our music this week to those wonderful people who watch the oceans. It is important to keep the oceans clean. They are the very means of our survival on Earth. They cover 70% of the planet and contain roughly 97% of our water supply. The oceans of Earth serve many functions, especially affecting the weather and temperature. They moderate the Earth's temperature by absorbing incoming solar radiation (stored as heat energy). The always-moving ocean currents distribute this heat energy around the globe. This heats the land and air during winter and cools it during summer. The world ocean is integral to all known life, forms part of the carbon cycle, and influences climate and weather patterns. However, much of the ocean's depths remain unexplored and it is estimated that over 2 million marine species may exist that we know nothing about. So it is with little wonder that all of us should be vigilant. The pollution levels must be monitored, people must be made aware of the great beauty and depth of our magnificent oceans, and how enormously important they are to the human species. Stop oil exploration in the oceans you damn fools!

yes this photo was taken on my last outing. I too was listening to the tunes being spun by Samantha, one of our resident DJ's - she certainly likes her coconuts.

Sven's comments on the need to preserve all our water resources from pollution is quite correct. Oceans, Rivers, Lakes, all need to be protected from waste.

The Water-Keepers alliance has done a lot in this connection, all over the World. From the Hudson River, to the Santa Barbara Channel to Australias Reef-lands....and I am sure you can find a lot more.
